You should attend the following,

    * February 5th Sunday meeting at Cal-Mum HS 10am Main Street Caledonia

    * February 13th Monday meeting at the Pavilion 1st Baptist Church, Rt. 19, Pavilion, NY

    * plus 3 of the other listed meetings. (March 14^th & 18^thmeetings are mandatory)

    * The more meetings you can make, the better it will be for learning the rules. You will be supplied the rule books.

    * You will be assigned to “training games” early in the season and work with an experienced trainer for a complete game.

Requirements

    * Application (click here) - Fill this out and bring it to the first meeting

     * To become a member you must be 18 years old.

    * No umpire experience is necessary but it helps to know the game.

    * High school ball games start at 4:15 or 4:30 PM during the week and usually 11:00 AM on Saturdays.

    * You are required to be at the school 30 minutes prior to game time.

    * During your first two seasons you will be umpiring the Modified & JV level games.

    * We try to assign you to games with experienced umpires during your first year.

    * By your third year you are eligible for an advancement level.

    * You will supply an availability sheet (click here) to the game assignor.

Spring 2011 High School pay rates are as follows:

Modified: $ 40.20  +  Mileage  ($0.42/mile round trip)

JV: $ 46.90 + Mileage  ($0.42/mile round trip)

Varsity: $67.00 + Mileage  ($0.42/mile round trip)

 **The above game fees are multiplied by 1.5 when you are assigned a game alone.

**You are paid directly by the High School you go to.

**You fill out a payment voucher prior to each High School game.

**The school will send you a check within 30 days.

Your start-up costs are as follows:

1.)   NYS High School Approved Fingerprinting Charge: $120.00 (mandatory one time charge.)

        * Unless you are currently working for a school district, this is required to receive an umpiring assignment.

2.)   Uniform & Protective Plate Gear:

        * Can be purchased new or used or maybe you can find some of our members with extra gear they don’t use.

        * You must have this gear prior to the March 22 meeting.

        * A list of required equipment will be supplied to you at the February meeting.

If you have umpired a baseball game before & enjoyed it, then you will enjoy umpiring at the High School level. In addition, our group umpires summer baseball games from the Little League level thru the Men’s 30+ Leagues (pay $45-$60/game)
